Description

‘Some Pussies’ Heads’ by Fannie Moody | Book Illustration | 1908

This charming antique print is an example of the work of Fannie Moody, a renowned English animal artist of the late Victorian and Edwardian period. In this piece can be recognised the depth of understanding of her animal subjects that she bought to her artwork: Moody has beautifully captured the slow blink of a truly contended cat.

This print has been saved from a disbound natural history book, published in 1908. It has been professionally mounted with conservation-grade materials and is ready to give as a gift or place into your choice of 10″ x 12″ frame. As with all prints from Thrilled Kitty, this piece is guaranteed to be a vintage or antique work and not a modern copy or reproduction.

About the Artist: Fannie Moody (1861-1948)

Fannie Moody was a well-regarded English landscape and animal artist. She is best known for her soulful paintings of dogs, particularly terriers, in oil and pastel; original copies of her works are now in great demand and achieve substantial sums at auction. Although largely self-taught she exhibited widely to critical acclaim, most notably at the Royal Academy in London. Based in south London, she received regular commissions for commercial work (including magazine illustrations, advertising and postcards) in addition to the sketches, portraits and animal studies she is remembered for. Her work often captures playful and whimsical scenes of animal behaviour, and always communicates a deep affection for her subjects.
